Meet the Board of Directors! – Treasurer – Kim Kraaier

Treasurer – Kim Kraaier

kim.kraaier@panhandle-pride.org

Kim is a business and finance professional with more than 10 years of experience in operations management, agribusiness, accounting, software migration, and new business development.  She has worked for several Fortune 500 companies, with two of the newest start-up companies in the Texas Panhandle, and currently works for a growing pharmaceutical company headquartered in Amarillo.

When Kim isn’t working with Pride, she spends her time traveling, reading and designing the next company that she wants to build.  Kim is relatively new to the Texas Panhandle, having moved here in December of 2015.  She became involved with Panhandle Pride, Inc. in April of 2016 and was voted into office as the organization’s Treasurer at the same time.

Kim shares the vision of her fellow Board members regarding the expansion of Panhandle Pride, Inc.  She wants to see exponential growth, building Pride beyond the annual event and bringing the community together more than once a year.  Kim is also seeking the opportunity to get involved with other LGBTQ+ organizations across the Nation and is excited to be able to network with other groups in order to bring much-needed support to the community.

Meet the Board of Directors! – Secretary – Keven Harris

Secretary – Keven Harris

keven.harris@panhandle-pride.org

Keven was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas.  He states that he was raised in the kitchen and has never left.  Keven has enjoyed a career in food service. He has done freelance catering over the years, and has held a position as caterer at Baptist St. Anthony hospital.

Keven has also enjoyed a career as a DJ and bartender.  He started working at Maggie’s at age eighteen, and

then, worked at Classified/Open Mind.  He is currently employed at The 212 Club.

Keven worked a a Stage Hand/Production Tech at the Amarillo Civic Center for six years.  He discovered that he had a knack for creating unique backdrops for the stage.   He has brought his experience and creativity to The 212 Club and has been the Stage Decorator.  Keven’s natural creativity adds a vibrant touch to each of the shows.

Keven came out at age sixteen.  He joined in holy union with Jamie Gibbons on October 10, 2010.  Together, they opened The Lion’s Lair, an antique and consignment gallery located on historic Route 66.  The Lion’s Lair participates in the annual Panhandle Pride Festival and Celebration, selling pride jewelry and novelty items.

Keven has been an active member of Metropolitan Community Church for the past eight years.  He served as the Chair for the Buildings and Maintenance committee for a few years.  He is currently running the sound board during church services.

Keven loves roller coasters.   His favorites are the Millennium Force and the Gate Keeper, located at Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Keven feels life is too short to get caught up in the small stuff, and he strives to live life to the fullest.

Meet the Board of Directors! – President – Jake Mitchell

President – Jake Mitchell

Serving our community since 2014

As a consultant with more than 12 years of business, management, and marketing experience, Jake has worked with brands like Dunkin’ Donuts, DirecTV, Brad Paisley, Chevrolet, Dave Ramsey, and hundreds of other local, regional, and national household names in Amarillo, Lubbock, Dallas, Southwest Kansas, Oklahoma City, and the surrounding areas. Jake currently works as an Integrated Marketing Consultant for Alpha Media, a national radio company, and manages radio and digital advertising campaigns primarily in the Amarillo and Lubbock markets. (Interested in working with Jake? Click HERE)

When he’s not designing local, regional, and national ad campaigns or creating ideas to help small (and not so small) business owners get more customers, you can find him in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes mad scientist style, or out and about with friends at any number of events or local venues. He’ll tell you he wishes he was in the mountains though…

Jake first got involved with Panhandle Pride, Inc. in April of 2016, and very quickly took on a large role in the organization, joining the Board of Directors in the same month at the urging of then-President, Karen Palmer, and taking on responsibilities as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. At the end of 2016, after the resignation of Richard Rhone, he assumed the role of the organization’s Vice President, and later was elected the organization’s President in September of 2017.

In addition to his role as President, Jake serves as the Chairperson of the following committees:

  • Executive Committee
  • PR/Marketing Committee
  • Programs & Operations Committee

Jake’s goals for the organization are simple, but broad. He wants to see Panhandle Pride, Inc. grow far beyond the annual Festival event, and begin to provide the community with monthly outreach events, and a network of supportive individuals for those who don’t have a support system of their own. Jake’s eventual goal is to work to provide the Texas Panhandle community with an LGBTQI+ Community Center, and to stabilize Panhandle Pride, Inc. as an organization that better meets the needs of the community.
